NEW Trailer for THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: ECHOES OF WISDOM Highlights Extensive Gameplay

Having been one of the highest selling video games franchises in the last four decades, The Legend of Zelda has evolved massively over the years. This has seen everything from semi-realistic RPGs, open world maps and classic dungeon crawlers. One thing the series hasn't explored properly is a featured game where Princess Zelda is the playable protagonist. That's all about to change with The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, with the Hyrule princess having to enter the Still World to rescue Link. Being less than a month away from release, Nintendo are looking to build yet more hype, dropping a lengthy trailer for the game.

Showcasing what's in store for fans, the five plus minute trailer highlights the various gameplay elements. Featuring a similar art style to the 2019 Link's Awakening remake, the game is set to feature a mixture of platforming and building mechanics. Whilst entering the Still World, Zelda will need to traverse over broken landscapes, having to build platforms to bridge these gaps. These Echo abilities will also come into play during dungeons and boss battles, with this skill set being pivotal to solving puzzles and bamboozling foes.

As players progress through the game, they will gain Sword Fighting Form, which in essence transforms her into Link. Whilst in this mode Zelda can fight enemies head on or alongside Echoes, giving a more traditional combat system. Your time in this form won't last long, however, with there being a finite time gage on your time in this mode. How and when you utilise this ability is up to you, with the sword’s gauge being refillable by collecting energy.

Finally the trailer introduces us to some of the residents of Hyrule, including an engineer named Dampè. This useful ally crafts various clockwork gizmos, known as automatons, which Zelda can summon to help her defeat enemies. Much like Sword Fighting Form these explosive trinkets don't last forever, breaking once sustaining repetitive damage.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch on September 26th.
