Back in 2021 Lucasfilm announced that EA would no longer have exclusive rights to make Star Wars video games. This would lead to a plethora of opportunities for the franchise, with various developers putting their name in the hat, with Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws just around the corner. Another developer that's been working on a project in the galaxy far, far away is Quantic Dreams, with the studio behind Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human announcing Star Wars: Eclipse around the same time as the EA announcement.
Since then the project has remained pretty dormant, with the developers sharing virtually nothing since the cinematic trailer that accompanied its initial announcement. Things don't, however, look good for the game moving forward, with its lead writer, Adam Williams announcing his departure from the company following ten years. Taking to his LinkedIn profile, the Detroit: Being Human writer had this to say:
“After almost 10 years at Quantic Dream, I am leaving to found a new studio, together with a group of very talented designers and developers.
We can’t say too much just yet. We are working on something very innovative, very special and, for now, very secret. More on that soon.
I’ve already been in touch with many of you guys at Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm, to thank you for everything on Detroit and Eclipse. It’s been a great adventure.”
What this means for Star Wars: Eclipse is as of yet undetermined, but Quantic Dreams have reassured fans that the game is still in the works.
