One of Marvel's deadliest foes is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the genocidal artificial intelligence unit, Ultron, confirmed to feature in an upcoming Vision TV series. Originally run by The Hollywood Reporter, Emmy-winning actor, James Spader, will once again voice the robotic villain, with the WandaVision spin-off set to arrive on Disney+ sometime in 2026.
First revealed in 2022 (then titled Vision Quest), the untitled Vision series will also see Paul Bettany return as the synthezoid. The show will see Star Trek: Picard showrunner, Terry Matalas, at its helm, having replaced Jac Schaeffer who would leave the project to focus on Agatha All Along.
What direction the show will head in is sure to entice fans, with both Vision and Ultron having died at one point or another in the past. Ultron's undoing would come at the hands of Vision himself in Age of Ultron, with the former Avenger being killed by Thanos near the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Now as we all know, death isn't finite in the comic book world (unless your name is Uncle Ben), with an alternative version of Vision having already featured in WandaVision. One thing is for certain, whatever form this deadly foe returns in is sure to spell disaster for our heroes.
