DYING LIGHT 2 ULTIMATE EDITION to Become DISCONTINUED

Having announced a new Dying Light game at Gamescom, developers Techland now have the task of generating hype. The company do appear to be rectifying a potential error they made during the announcement, stating that Dying Light: The Beast will be free for anyone that purchased Dying Light 2: Stay Human's Ultimate Edition. This decision was supposedly made due to the fact that The Beast was originally intended as DLC, before evolving into a much grander project.

In an apparent bid to prevent gamers purchasing (or upgrading to) the Ultimate Edition in hopes of grabbing a freebie, Techland have announced that they will be pulling it from digital stores come September 30th. This means that anyone that doesn't currently own the game or looking to upgrade must do so before then or miss out on the chance of getting Dying Light: The Beast for free.

The upcoming game will once again see players take control of Kyle Crane, seeking revenge on those that have imprisoned and experimented on him for the last thirteen years. Though little is known about the game at present, this new instalment will see a different Crane, with the character possessing mutated abilities. It is expected to act more like a first-person shooter than a survival horror, featuring both solo and up to four-player co-op, with shared progression.

Dying Light: The Beast is set to arrive on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC at an undisclosed date.

DYING LIGHT: THE BEAST Announced at GAMESCOM

Having had their opening night showcase yesterday, Gamescom has already given us tons of games to get hyped for in the coming year. Another to add to that list is the officially announced Dying Light: The Beast, with developers Techland dropping their first trailer for the game at the event.

The trailer sees a tactical unit searching the woods before quickly cutting to the familiar face of Kyle Crane. Having been in captivity and experimented on for thirteen years, Crane finally manages to escape, looking for revenge on his captors. The trailer would then go on to highlight the mixture of first-person hack-n-slash/shooter and parkour gameplay that the series is known for, whilst displaying the enhanced graphics of this latest entry.

Originally scheduled as DLC for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, The Beast would evolve into something much bigger, with Techland deciding to develop it as a stand-alone game. Though no release schedule is known as of yet, we do know that it will allow both solo and up to four-player co-op gameplay, with shared progression. It has also been speculated that the game might be available free of charge for those that purchased the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2: Stay Human, given that it was originally scheduled as DLC, though the developer has since gone on the fence regarding this decision.

Dying Light: The Beast is set to arrive on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC at an undisclosed date.
